Accidential Pomologist
Living plants like apple trees are affected by their surroundings. Here at Brady’s Lookout Cider on our property known as “The Dales” we continue to grow into the challenges. We are people that never meant to love the apples the way we do.
What does success look like in growing fruit? Science tells us one way, nature shows us the other. If you catch us at the local farmers market or at our cellar door, as you share some time with us, you will discover this journey with nature. Sometimes fun, sometime frustrating, always thought provoking.
We are “accidential pomologists”….we are inadvertently becoming deeply involved in growing our knowledge of heirloom apples (those that predate modern commercial orchards, there is no rigid rule but most “experts” consider apples introduced prior to 1945 as heirlooms). There are not many growers specialising in heirloom varieties but we do.
Reach out, have a chat. Experience the journey visually - Check out @accidentialpomologist .
When our cellar door is open at the Farm, or when we head to the local farmers market, you can meet the grower, the cider-maker and “accidential pomologist” for great conversations. Small, genuine and free from imitation…there are not many places where you can experience that anymore.
